Recently you’ve had contact with one of the associates from Sterk. You have been informed in brief about the advantages when using the Orion Group in order to solve your shortage of temporary staff. On these pages we aim to advise you of our operating procedures.
About Sterk
Sterk consultancy & recruitment agency BV is acting as an intermediary service between various foreign employment agencies specialized in seconding mainly British staff in the west European metal Industry in the widest range.
About Orion
The Orion Group is a specialist employment business first established in Inverness in 1987 to provide personnel to the rig construction yards of McDermotts at Ardersier and Highland Fabricators at Nigg. The Orion Group has systematically built up a database of professionally qualified personnel, many of whom have worked for the Company for a number of years, on numerous secondments. Orion consistently employs over 2700 people engaged in administration, clerical, draughting, engineering, technical and blue-collar jobs to a broad range of industries. Today, Orion has 22 offices in 10 countries generating an expected turnover of £ 175,000,000.
Quality
In 1990, Orion embarked on the formalisation of the management systems and in December1992 was assessed by the British Standards Institution to the requirements of BS 5750 : Part 2/ISO 9002/EN 29002 (1987). As a result the Company received its Certificate of Registration No. FS22621 in January 1993.
The Orion Group was one of the first service companies in the sector to have its management systems and procedures accredited with this prestigious award. The utmost importance is attached to the quality of services provided for its clients. There is an ongoing commitment to quality and continuing improvement. The Quality Management System has been revamped twice, once in 1994 to meet BS EN ISO 9002 (1994) and in 2005 to meet ISO 9001 (2000). The Orion Group is also currently working towards BS EN ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.

In order to avoid high recruiting costs, it’s recommended you contact Sterk first and discuss the job description with our project managers. The job profile will be drawn up in which we implement internal company requirements like safety, hygiene, non-smoking policy etc.
Our selection procedure - 160,000 CV database
The selection of your temporary employee is carried out by recruitment experts from the Orion Group. After the first selection Orion will forward cv's from possible candidates to the client. You will be asked to evaluate the selected cv’s and make the final selection. After your approval, we will determine a definite start date so that we can begin the process of transfers and accommodation. The complete procedure normally takes around 10 days. Within this period you have reliable, qualified and motivated personnel at your disposal.
Orion works with a growing digitalized database which contains approximately 160,000 cv’s increasing the chances of finding the ideal candidate!

First day warranty
As a minimum duration of employment Orion requires a period of 4 weeks. After that the agreement can be terminated on a weeks notice. If in spite of our accurate selection procedure the candidate does not meet your requirements, we offer you the first day warranty. The candidate will be pulled off the project immediately and the procedure will partially re-start to exchange the candidate. This service is offered at no cost.
Sterk remains your contact
During the project, Sterk remains your contact for all day to day matters. We are the coordinators for Orion, her employees and the client.
Costs and Administration
Working with temporary staff can be very favourable. Next to Orion’s immense database, you are assured of keen and qualified British staff. But what do you need to know about costs and administrative handling:
All-in rates, so no administrative hassle
Orion is in the position to offer you attractive all-in rates, so the client doesn’t need to bother with separate invoices for housing, travel fares and other time consuming matters. The only thing we ask is to approve and sign the weekly time sheets. More appealing is the fact that we don’t charge you for overtime! Obviously with the exception of work carried out on Sundays, Bank Holydays and nightshifts (starting between 00:00 until 06:00).
Payment, invoicing and the Tax Authorities
When you are hiring British staff, you aren’t hindered by the Dutch Flex Legislation and its phase system.
Payment of wages and invoicing will be executed by Orion. The invoicing system consists of two parts. One part of 8 % of the total chargeable amount and should be paid into the account of The Dutch Tax Authorities, Department of Chain Liability in Apeldoorn. This is to assure that wage tax is paid minimizing the possible consequences regarding the Dutch Chain Liability legislation. Any other advantage is that you are absolutely sure that wage tax is paid from the first day of employment. The other part of the invoice should be paid into Orion’s ING account in Amsterdam.
